Hello, estranged friends,
I’ve been busy—too busy (unfortunately…or fortunately?) to drum up any philosophical posts about success, writing, or life. I’ve neglected my newsletter because I’ve been working! Yes, working…as a writer!
Firstly, I am excited to share that I have signed a literary agent! Yes, after five years of writing, revising, rewriting, querying, and pitching several novels, I signed with Adam Chromy of Movable Type Managment, whom I pitched at the Algonquin NY Write to Pitch conference in September. Adam is both brilliant and scrappy, two qualities that make him a great agent. I’m very excited to be working with him (and connecting him with other work/clients, which is something I’m apparently good at).
I have also completed several large-scale editing projects for other novelists (I can’t wait to see those babies in the world), and I am currently ghost-writing (not exactly “ghost,” as it isn’t a tightly guarded secret) a friend’s memoir. This project has been so fun, both because my friend is (obviously) an amazing person, but because the story is both heart-breaking and inspiring, and I know readers will love them both.
And, finally, I (finally) have a short story coming out December 21st in Necessary Fiction. Keep a lookout for a celebratory post with a link to read it.
But, on to the real reason you opened this email: my favorite reads list, posted to my blog on my personal website (it has a new design, so feel free to stay and poke around).
If you need something dark to get you through all the holiday cheer, you should find something here. Happy holidays, all!
